Offshore GRE Pipe & Non-Metallic Offshore Piping

Review the specific offshore piping duty, installation conditions and required project approvals.

Offshore and nearshore projects increasingly evaluate offshore GRE pipe and other non-metallic offshore piping when seawater, produced fluids, or utility services make carbon steel a corrosion and maintenance burden. IFGS sources, from licensed partner factories in China and worldwide, GRE, FRP, and flexible composite systems for duties that fit bonded or spoolable composite construction — with an honest scope: we support shallow-water composite flowline and riser RFQs and related non-metallic offshore line pipe, and we do not position ourselves as a deepwater API Spec 17J unbonded steel-armor flexible-pipe OEM.

This page is an application hub. Use it to map your duty to a product family, assemble a precise RFQ, and request a technical review. For onshore gathering and injection, see our Oil & Gas solution. For geothermal loops, see Geothermal.

Application overview: where offshore GRE and composite piping are considered

Buyers search “offshore GRE pipe” for several distinct intents. Clarifying which intent you mean is the first step toward a qualified inquiry:

  • Rigid GRE / FRP offshore and topside utility lines — seawater cooling, firewater (when project-approved), produced-water transfer, chemical injection utilities, and other corrosive services on platforms, artificial islands, or nearshore facilities.
  • Non-metallic offshore piping onshore-to-nearshore corridors — shore approaches, short marine crossings, and coastal process lines where weight, corrosion, and install speed matter.
  • Shallow-water composite flowline / riser (flexible composite) — production, test, or gas-lift lines where pressure, temperature, and dynamic criteria fit bonded/spoolable composite construction rather than classic steel-armor unbonded flexible pipe.

IFGS addresses these RFQ classes from a single manufacturing base in Dongying, Shandong. We compete on application fit, standards honesty, and RFQ clarity — not on claiming a global multi-factory network or inventing type approvals.

Operating conditions checklist (qualify the RFQ)

Before asking for a price, lock the duty. Incomplete RFQs delay engineering and produce non-comparable quotes. Provide as many of the following as you can:

  • Medium / fluid (介质) — seawater, produced water, multiphase, gas-lift gas, oil, chemicals; note H2S, CO2, chlorides, solids, oxygen, and oil-in-water if known.
  • Design and operating pressure (P) — with units; include surge or shut-in cases.
  • Temperature (T) — continuous operating range and excursions; thermal cycling if relevant.
  • Size / OD / ID (口径) — NPS or millimetres; length or reel schedule.
  • Joint / end connection (接头) — adhesive bonded, bell & spigot, flange, lamination, RTJ or project end fitting for flexible composite.
  • Standards frame — name the buyer document: API Spec 15HR or 15LR for rigid GRE line pipe contexts, API Spec 15S for spoolable reinforced plastic line pipe, SY/T 6662.2 / project specs for flexible composite. 15S is not 15HR/15LR — do not conflate them on the RFQ.
  • Water depth / environment — topside only, splash zone, shallow water (state metres or feet), dynamic hang-off to FPSO or fixed platform when applicable.
  • Quantity / length and destination country — for logistics and documentation.

A request that includes application + medium + at least two of P/T/size, plus quantity order-of-magnitude and destination, is a qualified inquiry we can review. “Cheapest GRE offshore” with no duty data is not.

Why composite vs steel for offshore and nearshore lines

Composite selection is duty-driven, not a slogan. Typical engineering reasons buyers evaluate non-metallic offshore piping include:

  • Corrosion — seawater, saline produced water, and oxygenated utility streams attack bare carbon steel; GRE/FRP and thermoplastic composites are considered when fluid data supports the resin system.
  • Weight and handling — lower mass than equivalent steel can reduce lift capacity needs on platforms and simplify nearshore stringing — always verify against your structural and install plan.
  • Hydraulic smoothness — smooth bore can reduce friction losses versus internally corroded steel (project-specific; do not assume a fixed energy-saving percentage).
  • Life-cycle maintenance — fewer corrosion-driven replacements when the chemistry, temperature, and joint system match the product family.

Composite is not automatically better for every offshore line. High-temperature envelopes, fire design cases, impact/abrasion, regulatory locks to steel or to API 17J unbonded flexible, and dynamic riser fatigue outside our shallow-water envelope are honest reasons to stay with steel or a specialist flexible OEM. We will say so in the technical review rather than force-fit a quote.

Standards honesty (read before naming a Spec on the PO)

  • API Spec 15HR / 15LR — glass-reinforced epoxy line pipe categories often discussed for rigid GRE; naming them on an RFQ does not equal Monogram verification unless contracted and documented.
  • API Spec 15S — spoolable reinforced plastic line pipe; different product family from 15HR/15LR.
  • SY/T 6662.2 — common factory reference for flexible composite high-pressure transmission pipe in partner-factory practice.
  • API 17J / 17K / DNV RP — treated as comparison or project requirements for flexible pipe. They are not automatic type approval for IFGS products unless a named third-party scope is contracted.

Published trust marks on IFGS contact/trust content include ISO 9001, API 15HR, and API 15LR. Do not assume additional logos or certificates on this page.

What we need for a technical review

Send the following to start engineering screening (same checklist used on Contact / HubSpot — see RFQ field guide):

  1. Application narrative (topside utility, shore approach, shallow flowline/riser, etc.).
  2. Fluid composition and any water or gas analysis available.
  3. Design / operating pressure and temperature, including surge and cycling.
  4. OD/ID, length or reel count, water depth or install method.
  5. Preferred joint / end fitting and buyer-named standard edition.
  6. Destination country and target timing.
  7. Photos or sketches of the route if available — 现场图优先 when discussing brownfield tie-ins.

Scope boundary (IFGS)

IFGS is a Dongying GRE / FRP / RTP / flexible-composite manufacturer. We do not market a worldwide factory footprint, and we do not rebrand competitor trademark product lines as our own. If your FEED locks deepwater unbonded steel-armor flexible pipe only, state that clearly — we will confirm fit or decline before quoting as if we were that OEM class.

Next step — request a quote

Ready for review? Contact IFGS with the checklist above, or use the site quote path. Pair this hub with the product page that matches your duty so sales and engineering share one intent URL. One keyword → one page; this page’s intent is offshore GRE / non-metallic offshore piping / shallow-water composite flowline.
